Methodically mediated
Content, in all of its forms, takes on a new shape and a new meaning when it is paired with a picture or a graphic. I have learned from incidents at The Daily Barometer that centered on race, that there is always room for diversity in a newsroom and an extra set of eyes to view content before it makes it to press. It's never too late to right a wrong and there's always room for thoughtful communication.
We are all a little bit methodically mediated.
Some of us embrace the technology and others reject it on many, many levels. The newspaper model has turned the corner. Once upon a time, newsprint was the best way to get a message from point A to point B. Now, it's Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Hulu (for those broadcasters out there).
The printing process is the most expensive part of this medium. The Internet has created a new opportunity. The Internet is a new, faster and cheaper technology to spread information to the masses.
Journalism will not die. Journalism will evolve and change. Journalism will survive if we fix the business model. I look forward to being a part of that curve.
I am a communicator. I specialize in written communication. I am a gatherer of news and information. Whether it is marketing, journalism or plain and simple communication, I value the tools at my disposal and I look forward to jumping ahead of the curve and riding the newest trend.
